Botanic Laundry was established in 2021 by founder James Crumpton. He took over the traditional, Kimberley Dry Cleaners Ltd in the Botanic Ward of Hull, but the journey started well before then.

Where did we come from,
where do we go?

With a passion for the region, volunteering during the 2017 Hull; City of Culture year while working within the City and the laundry industry, James grew frustrated with the quality of laundry services available for SME within the region.

As a member of FEO, a Hull based independent business community made up of and supporting like-minded local entrepreneurs, James attend a presentation for The WaterLine campaign by Marketing Humber and the regions development plan to become net zero.

This sparked the idea to weave these passions for the local region, sustainability and laundry together and Botanic Laundry was born.

Our Values are for delivering Quality laundry services that are Sustainable and working in Partnership with regional businesses and their supply chains to meet the challenge of net zero.

Washing and Drying

We’ve invested in the latest award-winning intelligent washing machines by Grandimpianti.

  • Our machines weigh loads and reuse water from previous rinse cycles to save up to 70% compared to domestic washers.

  • Automated and dynamic dosing of biodegradable detergents prevent surplus chemical usage.

  • We’re moving away from gas and installing our first heat pump dryer.

Microplastic and Hygiene

We’re currently installing microfibre filtration on our new site, which will capture up to 95% of all fibres shed during washing. This process prevents plastic pollution in our waterways and drinking water.

Ozone Disinfection and Deodorisation* which kills 99.99% of all bacteria and viruses (including Covid–19) by changing the molecular structure of oxygen cells. This process is the most hygienic way to clean and reduces the need for higher temperatures.

*Operational on site by end of 2022.

⚡️ We’re awaiting delivery of our new electric fleet, which should be with us by 2023 ⚡️

Hair Salon Towel Supply. Helping hairdressing become sustainable in our region.

The hair and beauty industry uses a lot of water, heat and electricity and the CO2 output is considerably greater than other businesses of similar size. The industry itself is encouraging its members to ’go green’, even warning of increases of cost and taxes as the government commits to net zero by 2050.

Hair salons are encouraged to take steps to reduce their CO2. A report by the British Beauty Council sets out the need to do so. Our region has a higher proportion of hair and beauty professionals, from self employed to multi-chair salons. ONS stating that there are over 500 salons employing 1000’s across Hull and East Yorkshire.
